Morogoro. Telecommunications provider Yas has officially launched its latest nationwide initiative — ‘Anzia Ulipo’ (Start Where You Are) — with the goal of empowering Tanzanians, especially youth and entrepreneurs, to embrace digital opportunities using the resources available to them.

The launch event, held in the heart of Morogoro on June 17, 2025, marked the start of what Yas described as a transformative campaign to inspire individuals across the country to take their first steps toward digital inclusion and economic empowerment.

Speaking during the launch, Yas Chief Commercial Officer Mr Isack Nchundasaid the campaign underscores the brand’s commitment to supporting Tanzania’s digital transformation journey from the grassroots up.

“This campaign is a heartfelt call to every Tanzanian with a dream, a talent, or an idea to begin right where they are. With the right tools and support — like those provided by Yas — those dreams can become a reality,” said Mr Nchunda.

He added that Anzia Ulipo aligns with Yas’s broader vision of connecting people with opportunities across the country. “Yas has grown to become a symbol of hope, progress, and unity. Our infrastructure — which includes Tanzania’s largest 4G and 5G network — is enabling real impact across sectors such as education, healthcare, agriculture, and business,” he noted.

Mr Nchunda pointed to tangible examples of this digital transformation: teachers in Mahenge conducting virtual classes, rice farmers in Ifakara accessing real-time market data, and youth in urban Morogoro marketing products through online platforms.

The campaign launch comes at a crucial moment, as Tanzania’s youth — making up over 34.5 percent of the population — increasingly embrace entrepreneurship not only as a means of survival but as a deliberate strategy for innovation and economic independence.

“We’re seeing a wave of digital-first businesses — from agritech and fashion to content creation and freelance services. This shows that Tanzanian youth are not just taking part in the digital economy — they are leading it,” Mr Nchunda said.

Other speakers at the event included Ms Mwangaza Matotola, Yas’s Director of Customer Experience, and Mr Abdul Ally, Regional Director for the Coastal-North Zone, who both reaffirmed the company’s commitment to walk hand-in-hand with customers on their journeys of growth.

“We’re not just a telecom provider — we’re a movement. Anzia Ulipo is a rallying call for action, hope, and self-empowerment. The time to start is now,” Mr Nchunda emphasized.

Through this campaign, Yas is positioning itself not only as a network provider but as a catalyst for digital inclusion and economic opportunity. With Anzia Ulipo, the company is urging Tanzanians across all regions to begin their success stories — right where they are.
