Dar es Salaam. Telecommunications provider Yas has announced a special Easter promotion aimed at expanding smartphone access and accelerating digital inclusion across Tanzania, offering significant price reductions on ZTE smartphones.
The nine-day campaign, which began on March 31 and runs through April 8, introduces a substantial cut in the initial deposit required to own a smartphone. Customers can now acquire a ZTE device with a down payment of just Sh25,000, reduced from Sh45,000. The remaining cost can be settled through an affordable daily installment of Sh950 over a 12-month period.
In addition to the flexible payment plan, customers purchasing the devices will receive 150MB of free data, allowing them to immediately access Yas’s high-speed network and digital services.
Speaking during the launch, Imelda Edward, Yas Device Manager for Sales and Channels, said the promotion underscores the company’s commitment to narrowing the digital divide in the country.
“This Easter promotion goes beyond pricing. It is about empowering more Tanzanians to come online and fully participate in the digital economy. By lowering the initial deposit and offering flexible daily payments, we are removing barriers that have been limiting access to smartphones,” she said.
Edward added that the initiative aligns with Yas’s broader goal of delivering reliable and high-quality connectivity nationwide. She noted that the company’s network has been recognized as the fastest in Tanzania by Ookla for three consecutive periods.
“With this promotion, we want to ensure that more Tanzanians can experience the quality of our network firsthand through ZTE devices,” she added.
The Easter offer is expected to boost smartphone adoption, particularly among first-time users, while supporting the continued growth of Tanzania’s digital ecosystem. Customers are encouraged to visit Yas shops and authorized agents across the country to take advantage of the limited-time promotion before it ends.
