Zanzibar. The presidential candidate on the Alliance for Tanzania Farmer’s Party (AFP) ticket in Zanzibar, Mr Said Soud Said, said he was seeking the top job to end the poor employment system in the isles that has sidelined local residents.
He said to change the system would be his top priority in order to make sure every Zanzibari would be capable of being employed in an open and transparent manner.
He said the current system of favouring foreigners coupled with corruption has denied many local residents employment opportunities.
Mr Said gave the pledge when launching his election campaign at Ukombozi ground, Wete District in Pemba North. He said he would like to see the job market in the isles dominated by locals who would be employed on merit and without discrimination.
“Under my government I’ll ensure a person is employed on merit so that justice is done for all those who deserve to be taken on board,” he said.
