Dar es Salaam. Former Simba SC head coach Abdallah Kibadeni has called on his former employers to give Zdravko Logarusic more time to settle into the job. Frustration is growing at the Msimbazi Street heavyweights following a series of unimpressive results. Simba have nicked just two points from their last four matches.
And Kibadeni, who was shown the door late last year and being replaced by the Croat, describes Logarusic as a good coach and Simba should hand him a longer “grace period” to turn things around.
“Most club leaders want short-cut to success that’s why coaches are sacked on silly grounds. They have to understand that building a winning outfit takes time, so the coach must be given time as well.
“I was at Simba and the team was performing fairly, but what have they got after sacking me and disbanding the whole technical team?” queried Kibadeni.
He added: “Logarusic is a good coach, but after a recent run of poor form, a lot might happen and I would not be surprised if he also loses the job. “Logarusic definitely needs a longer grace period to re-organize the team. This is his first time to coach in the country, so the Simba community should be patient.”
Kibadeni, who coached Kagera Sugar with great success, defended his short spell at the helm of Simba, saying he was building a team for the future.
“We were trying to build a team for the future and the leaders were aware of the project; we promoted a lot of youngsters who were already gelling.
“However, after a few setbacks towards the end of the first round, everyone was calling for my head and they are now paying the price for making wrong decisions,” he said.
Simba sit fourth with 32 points, six adrift of leaders Young Africans who still have two matches in hand.
Kibadeni currently coaches another Premier League outfit, Ashanti United, which is struggling to avoid the drop.
