Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Mainland Premier League sponsors, NBC Bank, has promised to take the league to the next level of development.

This was said by the Head of Marketing of the bank, David Raymond, during the official handing over of the trophy to the league champion, Young Africans (Yanga), at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium last Saturday.

“Everyone is a witness to the major revolutions that NBC Bank has already made in the three seasons of our sponsorship of the Mainland Premier league, one year of our sponsorship of the Championship League as well as in the Youth League.

This is not enough as we plan to take the league to the next level of development that will enable clubs to sign good players as well as provide essential services such as health insurance and travel loans for the teams,” said Raymond.

Raymond explained that the move will increase competitiveness among the participating teams.

“We believe that in the remaining four years of our sponsorship, we will come up with even better and greater things, including devising better banking services aimed at serving and addressing the challenges of the clubs participating in these leagues.

So far, football fans are enjoying the excitement of the league matches while players are competing for various awards like top scorer, golden boot, and many others,” he said.

He said the bank will continue to support and prepare the most exciting moments of trophy handover ceremonies like the one held for Young Africans (Yanga).

“We also ensure that we prepare better environments to hand over their championship trophies by collaborating with the respective clubs to organise big events that increase the appeal to their fans. You have witnessed a special helicopter deliver the trophy to Yanga at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, adding excitement to the handover ceremony,” he said.

Raymond also said the trophy handover ceremony at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium was a momentous one and Yanga were officially crowned with their 30th trophy in history.

The ceremony was graced by the presence of esteemed dignitaries such as the Minister of State in the President’s Office (Special Assignments), George Mkuchika, and Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president Wallace Karia.

Also in attendance was the chairperson of the Board of Directors of NBC Bank, Elirehema Doriye, who represented the institution.

Alongside the trophy presentation, the event also saw NBC Bank’s Finance Director, Waziri Barnabas, and the Treasurer and Financial Markets Director, Peter Nalitolela, lead the recognition of individual excellence.

Yanga’s Aziz Ki was named the best player of the Mainland Tanzania Premier League for April, while the team’s coach, Miguel Gamondi, won the monthly award for coaches in the same month.

According to Raymond, the bank’s commitment to the sport extends beyond the field of play, and so far they have created approximately 7,000 jobs through the sports value chain.

“These positive results of increased employment and enthusiasm for the sport are what motivate us even more to continue devising greater strategies to further strengthen our sponsorship,” he said.

He also said the bank promises to continue its efforts to improve the league, with plans to introduce innovative banking services tailored to address the challenges faced by the participating clubs.

“We believe that in the remaining four years of our sponsorship, we will come up with even better and greater things, including devising better banking services aimed at serving and addressing the challenges of the clubs participating in these leagues,” he stressed.

Raymond also highlighted the bank’s membership card service specifically for Yanga’s fans as an example of their forward-thinking initiatives.
