The closely contested match was a repeat of a friendly match played nearly two weeks ago in Kampala, Uganda which KCC won 2-0 with goals from Herman Wasswa and Brian Umony.

Nsimbe is the right man of Cameroonian John Omog while Majwega started on the left side of attacking midfield.
Majwega’s first game for Azam was against KCC albeit a friendly at Lugogo and will be eager to show what his former side misses.
For both teams, the match was part of their preparations ahead of their CAF Champions League matches.
“We want to win Mapinduzi Cup. Besides, we are using this tournament as part of our preparations for our CAF Champions League matches,” said the Uganda team head coach, Abdallah Mubiru.
Azam had striker John Bocco back into the squad after a missing all the four friendly games they played in Uganda due to injury.
The striker came off the bench to net the equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Yanga in the Vodacom Premier League last Sunday.
KCC were without central defender Richard Kasagga, who left camp for trials in Lebanon a few days ago.
He adds to Brian Umony, Habib Kavuma and Isaac Ntege who didn’t travel with the side due to injuries and malaria.
