Drivers from five countries to compete in Oryx Energies rally of Tanzania

  • The countries that have confirmed as per deadline are Oman, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania.

Dar es Salaam. Thirty two drivers from five countries will compete in the Africa Rally Championships (Oryx Energies Rally of Tanzania) scheduled to start from August 31st to September 2nd in the country.

The countries that have confirmed as per deadline are Oman, Kenya, Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania. The  among the drivers is top Tanzanians, Gerald Miller and Dharam Pandya who finished in the top two in  last year’s National Rally Championships.

Other drivers representing Tanzania are Randeep Singh, Gurpal Sandhu, Harinder Deere, Nadeem Daudi,Rajpal Singh, GunjaSingh,ErfanAladin,   Ismail Shannmohamed, Aajminder Singh, Hussein Suleiman, Ismail Mehboob, Altaaf  Munge, Manndeep Singh, TufailTufail, Emmanuel  Lyimo, MussaMswaki, Azim Somji,Jayant  Shah.

Foreign drivers are Karan Peter, ManvirBaryan, PieroCanobbio, RaajiBhanj (Kenya), Leroy Gomes, Kleevan Gomes, Kyle Latife, Jassy Singh, (Zambia),  Adam Rauf, Yassin Nasser, SaadatNogomba (Uganda)  and Joey Ghose of Oman.

 Race Director, Satinder Birdi said that the total of 354 kilometers will be contested by the drivers in the Ubena Estate in Coast region. Birdi said that the car scrutinizing exercise would be held in Mikocheni two days before the race.

“We are now in final preparations of the event, we call all drivers to follow our instructions including attending scrutinizing exercise and others which are very important for the event,” said Birdi.

Managing Director of Oryx Energies, SophonieBabo  said they are proud to sponsor the championships. Babo said they know the important of the competition and believe Tanzania drivers will do the best and won the race.

“We are very proud to support the event, we are real stakeholders of the sport in the country and we are sure our partnership with Automobile Association of Tanzania will continue to make the game develop,” said Babo.

Chief Executive Officer (Ceo) of AAT, Yusuf Ghor congratulated the event sponsors for making the event happen in the country.

Ghor appealed all drivers and sport lovers to maintain safety as per the game rules and regulation while calling fans to keep distance from the road during the vent.

“As the world governing body (FIA) insist the safety in the sport, we call all drivers and fans to maintain that by following directives, we hope all will make it as per our rules and regulations,” said Ghor.

In the last ARC held in Kenya – Tanzania driver Randeep Singh/Gurvinder Singh came 4th overall.  The next event will be held in Rwanda whereby Africa Champion is determined.
