KCC beat Khartoum to grab third place at Kagame Cup

Dar es Salaam. KCC defeated Khartoum 2-1 to finish third at the 2015 CECAFA Kagame Cup at the National Stadium yesterday.

Two minutes later, Ochaya crossed from the left, Shaban Kondo missed that target just in the middle of the goal mouth. As the ball was going out, Birungi played it back for Muzamir Mutyaba to double the lead, which was also his second of the competition.
KCC won a corner after 24 minutes; Timothy Awany missed a free header, they didn’t recover, Khartoum counter attacked. While KCC was trying to get back in shape, Atif Khalid turned Hassan Wasswa Dazo inside out from the right of their own penalty area. Atif laid for Ousmaila Baba whose effort couldn’t be stopped by Emmanuel Opio in goal, it was Baba’s third goal of the championship. At the half hour mark, Khartoum brought on Osman Salafeldin for Wagdi Awad who had picked up a knock.
At this point KCC was struggling to stabilize and at 37 minutes Opio was required to deny Hassan Sheikheldin who had escaped from Wasswa and Awany with Ochaya caught out of possession.
Ahmed Adam and Birungi were both shown red for getting physical on the pitch with five minutes to the break.
Birungi lay on the turf semi-conscious in what looked like a respiratory complication, and medical attention was needed for him recover.
With both teams down to ten men, Khartoum brought on Salih Musa for Atif Khalid at the beginning of the second half Owen Kasule for Hakim Senkumba was KCCs’ first change after 66 minutes, in the 90th minute Dan Nsubuga Sekabembe replaced Muzamir.
KCC walked away with US$10,000 (about Shs34m) bettering their performance last year where they lost to Police of Rwanda at this very stage.
