Kilimanjaro Marathon gears up for 22nd edition, promises economic boost

Moshi. The 22nd edition Kilimanjaro Premium Lager International Marathon is revving up, promising not just athletic thrills but a significant economic boost for Moshi and Kilimanjaro region on February 25, 2024.

Speaking at the launch at the Salinero Hotel, Regional Administrative Secretary Tixon Nzunda lauded the marathon's contribution to sports tourism and the local economy.

He underscored its impact on businesses like hotels, lodges, and guest houses, and urged traders to ensure top-notch products and services for visitors.

Kilimanjaro Premium Lager, the main sponsor for 22 years, continues its commitment with a hefty Sh28 million prize pool.

Neema Patrick, Tanzania Breweries Limited Northern Zone Manager, announced a Sh5 million payout for each category winner.

Tigo, partnering with the Tigo Half Marathon for the ninth year running, has increased prize value for this popular category with over 6,000 participants expected.

Danile Mainoya, Tigo Northern Zone Manager, encouraged early registration via 15001#.

Gee Soseji, the new sponsor of the 5 KM Fun Run, sees the marathon as the perfect platform to connect with consumers and promote their healthy, affordable sausages.

Magreth Karua, Brand and Marketing Manager, emphasized their commitment to revolutionizing the market with quality products.

Ben Mengi, Director of Salinero Hotels, the launch host, highlighted the marathon's role in boosting tourism.

He announced a special offer for the 42 and 21 km winners in both categories: a night's stay at the Serengeti Lodge.

The Kilimanjaro Premium Lager International Marathon will take place on February 25, 2024, at the Moshi Cooperative University grounds.
