Moshi driver tops NRC standing after victory

Dar es Salaam. Rajpar Dhani of the Hari Singn Rally team tops the National Rally Championship (NRC) standing after amassing 26 points.
Dhani, who is navigated by Riyaz Ismail, scored eight points in the just ended Vaisakhi Rally in Kilimanjaro.
He also competed in the first edition of NRC in Tanga, where he registered 18 points.
Dharam Pandya, one of the best drivers in the country, and Vaisakhi rally winner Gurjit Dhani of Hari Singh Rally team share the second position, according to a statement availed to The Citizen by Automobile Association of Tanzania (AAT) chief executive officer, Yusuf Ghor, yesterday.
The two drivers have 25 points each.
Pandya, who faced mechanical problems in the Kilimanjaro Rally, did not score any point in the event, while Dhani, who did not feature in Tanga Rally, scored 25 points.
Tufail Tufail is placed fourth with 23 points. He is followed by Alisasgar Fazal on 22 points, four ahead of sixth-placed Ahmed Huwelin.
ShaneAbbas Fazal is seventh with 15 points and is followed by Nadeem Daud (12 points), Altaf Munge (six points) and Anthony John sits 11th woth four points.
The AAT boss also named drivers who are at the bottom of the standing with no point.
The drivers are Ajminder Dhani, Gurpal Sandhu, Randeep Singh, Mandeep Dhani, Luka Mwanga, Abdul Hakeem and Zaneal Somji.
Meanwhile, Hari Singn Rally team driver Gurjit Singh has won the Vaisakhi Rally in Kilimanjaro.
The rally is also known as the second edition of the National Rally Championship (NRC).
Singh, who was navigated by Shameer Yusuph from Kenya, collected 25 points in the event, which featured 13 drivers from various around the country.
Dharam Pandya, who was navigated by Moses Matovu, did not finish the rally after facing mechanical problems. Pandya won the first NRC rally held in Tanga early this year after scoring 25 points.
Another famous driver in the country, Ahmed Huwel finished in the second position in the race after collecting 18 points. The Mkwawa rally team driver was navigated by former Tanzania champion, Jamil Khan in the event that saw pnly six cars reach the final round.
The third position won by Tufail Tufail of the Tufail Racing team after pocketing 15 points. Tufail who was navigated by Victor Jackson improved his scoring as in the first race held in Tanga region, he scored eight points.
Sierra Zully Rally team navigated by Maisam Fazal finished fourth with 12 points while Aliasgar Fazal of the AliAbbas Rally team and his navigator, Awadh Bafadhil finished fifth with 10 and sixth placed driver was Rajpar Dhani of the Hari Singn Rally team who scored eight points.
Apart of Pandya who did not finish the race, other drivers who did not finish the race due to the mechanical problems were ShaneAbbas Fazal of AliAbbas Rally team, Gurpal Sandhu (AESL rally team), Mandeep Dhani (Hari Singh Rally Team), Luka Mwanga (Koringe Rally Team), AbdulHakeem Jiddawi (Jiddawi Rally Team) and Zaneal Somji of Jiddawl Rally team.
Regions whose drivers were involved in the 150km engine war came from Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Dar es Salaam, Tanga and Iringa.
