Nkya, Nathwani shine at Moshi Lina Pro-Am golf event

Dar es Salaam. Professional golfer Fadhyl Nkya and elite amateur Jay Nathwani emerged as the top performers in the second edition of the Lina Pro-Am Golf Tournament, held at the prestigious Tanzania Plantation Company (TPC) Golf Course in Moshi.
The highly anticipated event brought together a strong field of both professional and elite amateur golfers, all competing over 72 holes.
The tournament, which honours the legacy of the late Lina Nkya, once again lived up to its billing as one of Tanzania’s premier golf competitions.
Ideal weather conditions and a well-maintained course provided a fitting stage for a weekend of high-level golf.
In the elite amateur category, Nathwani delivered an outstanding performance to claim the top spot. He completed the tournament with a total score of 3-under-par (-3), becoming the only player in the amateur division to finish under par.
Nathwani played consistently throughout and closed the final round at even par (E), holding off a competitive field and proving his composure under pressure.
Finishing second among the amateurs was Isihaka Dunia, who registered a total of +6. Despite a challenging final round of +7, Dunia managed to stay ahead of the pack to secure the runner-up position.
Enosh Wanyeche finished third with a total of +8, followed by Ally Isanzu in fourth place at +14. E. Lucas rounded out the top five amateurs with a final score of +16. The results in the amateur category highlighted the growing depth of talent among non-professional golfers in the country.
In the professional category, Fadhyl Nkya stood out with a composed and steady performance across the four rounds.
He finished with a total score of +1, despite carding a +4 on the final day. His earlier rounds provided enough cushion to maintain his lead and secure the top spot among professionals.
Nkya's triumph reinforces his reputation as one of the most consistent and technically skilled golfers on the Tanzanian circuit.
Second place in the professional division was shared by Abdallah Yusuph and John Leonce. Yusuph finished with +6 after a +3 round on the final day, while Leonce made a strong charge with an impressive -3 final round to end with a total of +9. Frank Mwinuka also finished at +9 but had a tougher final round with +6, placing him fourth. Elisante Lembris completed the top five with a final tally of +11, following a +4 performance on the last day.
The Lina Pro-Am has become a significant platform for promoting competitive golf in Tanzania, and this year’s edition lived up to expectations.The event showcased not only the seasoned skills of professional golfers like Nkya but also the rise of promising amateurs such as Nathwani.
