Rotary Club of Bahari Charity golf event achieves success

Dar es Salaam. The leadership of the Rotary Club of Bahari – Dar es Salaam has announced that its annual Charity Golf Tournament achieved its objectives, with three players winning tickets to Dubai to participate in a special golf competition.
This was revealed by the Club’s Director of Public Relations, Bakari Machumu, during the closing ceremony held at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club.

Machumu explained that the three winners—Kiye Mwakawago, who led Team FlyDubai, along with Miko Mwakawago and Theonas Mushi—clinched the Team Championship title with a combined score of 113. He further noted that more than 100 golfers took part in the tournament, setting a new record.
The main goal of the event, he said, was to support initiatives in health, education, and the environment. “Indeed, our objectives have been achieved and a record has been set in this 15th edition. We thank the sponsors, partners, and players for making this tournament a success,” said Machumu.

He added that, beyond the STEM education project, the club also plans to purchase TVS ambulances to assist pregnant women and children in rural villages across Tanzania.
On his part, the Club President, Sameer Santosh, expressed optimism for even bigger projects in next year’s tournament and called on partners to continue offering their support.
Santosh emphasized that this year’s strong participation has inspired the club to further expand the scope of the tournament and urged stakeholders to rally behind their efforts.
In addition to the three main winners, national team golfer Vicky Elias reaffirmed her status as one of Tanzania’s top female golfers by winning the Best Gross (Women) award with a score of 78. Murtaza Jariwalla dominated on the men’s side, claiming the Best Gross (Men) award with a score of 76.
In Category A, Arjun Lavingia secured first place with 38 points, closely followed by Ali Shariff with 37, while Raj Lavingia also finished with 37 to take third place.
The tight competition reflected the depth of talent among experienced players. In Category B, the standard of play was equally high.
Theonas Mushi led with 42 points, followed by Mohammed Sammi with 41, while Aftab Dossaji rounded out the top three with 40 points. Their strong performances highlighted the energy and growth of the younger generation of golfers.
In Category C, Anael Ndosa emerged victorious with 42 points, followed by Mohammed Asgarali with 40 and Patrick Nanyaro with 39.
Their determination and commitment embodied the true spirit of the tournament, which encourages players of all levels to shine.
The Women’s Silver Category was also fiercely contested, with Ayne Magombe taking first place with 40 points and Maryanne Mugo finishing a close second with 38. Both golfers showcased outstanding skill, adding excitement to the women’s competition.
The Rotary Club of Bahari expressed its gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers who made the day memorable.
