Dar es Salaam. President of the Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU), Queen Siraki, has been selected among 106 global changemakers to participate in the Swedish Institute Global Executive Programme (SI GEP) 2025 a major milestone that underscores her leadership in sports, finance, and sustainable development.
Queen, who also serves as Head of Special Assets Management at Exim Bank Tanzania, brings with her over 15 years of experience in banking, business rehabilitation, and executive leadership.
Her selection represents not only a personal achievement but also a significant spotlight on Tanzania’s growing role in global sustainability dialogues. In an interview with The Citizen yesterday, Queen expressed her excitement about joining the elite leadership programme.
“I am truly honoured to be selected among such an inspiring global cohort.
This programme will allow me to have hand-on experience and knowledge of sustainability from both science and business perspectives as well as having stronger capacity to lead and drive change in my community.
The programme will as well steer up my leadership skills while learning strategies that can enhance development across sectors, including sports,” she said.
The SI Global Executive Programme, organised by the Swedish Institute, is a prestigious international platform that brings together high-level executives from 24 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
It aims to equip participants with the tools to navigate complex leadership landscapes, promote sustainable business practices, drive strategic changes and accelerate the green transition.
The 2025 edition of the programme will cover key themes including sustainable business strategy, stakeholder engagement, innovation, financing green transition, strategic planning, and impact communication. The programme combines various forms of learning and modules running from May to November 2025 with a week-long immersion in Stockholm, Sweden, from October 13 to 18. During this time, participants will interact with Swedish industry leaders, policy makers, and sustainability experts.
One of the hallmarks of SI GEP is its experiential learning model, which centres around a Strategic Business Project. Participants apply the tools and knowledge gained throughout the programme to tackle real-world challenges within their own organisations. Each participant is expected to dedicate three to four hours per week to coursework, collaboration, and project development.
Queen’s inclusion in the programme not only celebrates her personal accomplishments but also serves to elevate Tanzania’s visibility in the global movement toward sustainability-focused leadership.
As head of TLGU, she has played a pivotal role in promoting women’s leadership and participation in golf, using sport as a platform for empowerment and societal change.
“Sports can be a powerful tool for social impact and development, and I look forward to exploring how we can harness that potential even further,” she added.
The Swedish Institute, a public agency under the Government of Sweden, is renowned for its work in international cooperation, education, innovation, and sustainability.
Through SI GEP, it supports forward-thinking leaders and organisations in embedding sustainability into core business strategy. Queen Siraki joins an impressive list of Tanzanian professionals who are making an impact on the global stage. Her participation is expected to benefit not only her professional journey but also the wider communities and institutions she leads and represents.
