Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s leading female golfer, Vicky Elias, is gearing up for one of the most anticipated tournaments on the regional calendar—the NCBA Diani Beach Masters, scheduled for Friday to September 7 at the Diamonds Leisure Golf Club in Diani, Kenya.

The prestigious event, which doubles as a Kenya Amateur Golf Championship fixture, has already attracted some of the best golfers from across East Africa and beyond. With a handicap index limit of 14.9, competition is expected to be fierce as golfers battle it out for the coveted green jacket.

Vicky, who has built a reputation as Tanzania’s most consistent female golfer, expressed her excitement ahead of the tournament, noting that it presents an opportunity to test her skills against some of the region’s finest players.

“This is a very important championship for me because it brings together top golfers from Kenya, Uganda, and other countries,” said Vicky.

“I have been preparing intensively, focusing on both my physical fitness and mental approach. My goal is to make Tanzania proud by performing strongly at Diani,” she said.

The NCBA Diani Beach Masters will feature multiple rounds over three days, with a maximum of 120 players competing. Organizers confirmed that entries had drawn golfers from across the region, underlining the tournament’s growing stature.

According to Elias, tournaments of this scale are vital for the growth of women’s golf in Tanzania. “Playing against regional champions sharpens my game and builds my confidence. It also inspires younger Tanzanian girls to take up the sport, knowing that they too can compete internationally,” she said.

Beyond competition, the Diani Masters is also about networking and promoting golf tourism. Hosted against the backdrop of Kenya’s scenic coastal town, the event combines sporting excellence with the allure of Diani’s beaches and resorts.

Ardent supporters of Vicky believe that her participation will further highlight Tanzania’s emerging golf talent. Golf analysts note that she has been steadily improving her handicap and is poised for a breakthrough performance.

“Vicky has been a trailblazer for Tanzanian women in golf,” said a local coach. “Competing at the Diani Beach Masters will not only boost her career but also showcase Tanzania’s potential on the regional golfing stage.”
