We’ll down DR Congo: Twiga coach

Dar es Salaam. The national women’s soccer team, Twiga Stars, head coach, Bakari Shime, is confident of chalking up a positive result when his team takes on DR Congo.

Twiga Stars face DR Congo in the preliminary round, first leg of the 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers on Friday at the National Stadium.

Shime said yesterday that he was optimistic that the Tanzanian girls will not only eliminate DR Congo, but also qualify for the 2020 Olympics in Japan.

The two teams will face off again on April 9 in the return leg in Kinshasa, DR Congo.

Shime said that his players were in high spirits, raring to launch their campaign in the Olympics qualifiers with a bang.

A few weeks ago, Shime named a 25-memner squad for the qualifiers.

The players are now undergoing residential training in the city ahead of Friday’s clash.

Their Congolese counterparts are expected in the country tomorrow for the match.
