Yanga, Azam to meet in FA Cup

Tanga. A Yanga-Coastal Union’s FA Cup’s semifinal match ended in chaos after fans started throwing objects on the pitch in protest of a goal scored by the former’s Donald Ngoma.

The chaos started in after Coastal Union’s fans protesting Ngoma’s goal alleging that he was at an offside position.

Yanga, have however, sailed through to the final to book a date with Azam FC in a match predicted to be tough and exciting.

Cameroonian Youssouf Sabo put the hosts ahead in the 54th minute with a shot off a sizzling pass by Ayoub Semtawa.

The goal lasted for six minutes before Zimbabwean Ngoma levelled matters off a long pass by Saimon Msuva.

The goal saw the match being suspended for some minutes after the fans started throwing stones complaining that Ngoma was at an offside position.

In the 69th minute, Ngoma’s compatriot, Thaban Kamusoko scored what could have been Yanga’s second goal that was however disallowed by referee Abdallah Kambuzi for being in offside.

Burundian Amissi Tambwe scored the second goal for Yanga in the 101st minute following Coastal Union’s goalkeeper (Fikirini Bakari) blunder after he collided with his defender, Miraji Adam in an attempt to clear the ball.

The goal saw another chaos eruption forcing the referee to call it a day.

Meanwhile, it was a bright day for Azam FC after they eliminated hosts, Mwadui by 5-3 shoot-out to join Yanga in the final.

The match went into penalty shoot-out after the two teams drawing 2-2 at regular 90 minutes and other 30 extra minutes.

Before the shoot-out, Azam broke the stalement in the 5th minute through Khamis Mcha before Hassan Kabunda levelled matters in the 82nd minute.

Mcha was on the mark again in the 97th minute but Azam celebrations were just for a short time after Jabir Aziz ‘Stima’ scored an equalizer in the dying minutes of other 30 extra minutes

Azam scored their penalties through Waziri Salum, Allan Wanga, Himid Mao, John Bocco and Aggrey Morris.

Mwadui’s penalties were converted into goals by Jabir Aziz, Malika Ndeule and Iddi Mfaume while Kevin Sabato got his wrong.
