Dar es Salaam. The controversy surrounding Mrisho Ngasa’s move to South Africa for trials took a new turn yesterday when Young Africans accused Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) of facilitating his departure. Ngassa, who left for Botswana with the national soccer team, Taifa Stars, last week for residential camp, is currently in South Africa for trials with Free State Stars FC, a South African Premier League outfit.
The diminutive forward has also undergone medical tests, and the South African club is ready to pay Yanga $80,000 (approximately Sh132 million), the amount the Jangwani Street club has refused.
“What we know is that Ngassa is with the national team in Gaborone, Botswana. We know nothing about him going for trials in South Africa and passing a medical test with Free State Star FC,” Yanga secretary general, Benno Njovu said yesterday.
“If such a thing has happened then TFF should be held responsible,” he added.
Meanwhile, Nairobi City Stars have confirmed five new signings in the just concluded June transfer window.
