Mtwara police collect Sh12m from firearms inspections

According to the police head, many of the weapons inspected are owned by security companies.

Mr Mwaibambe, who serves as Regional Police Commander noted that the Police Force has collected a total of Sh12.1 million as inspection fees.

Mtwara. Police have inspected a total of 430 firearms and 2,488 rounds of ammunition owner by various individuals.

Senior assistant Commissioner of Police, Henry Mwaibambe said the inspection started in April and was concluded in June, this year.

A total of 310 shotguns, 58 rifles, 61 pistols and one gobore – a locally made gun were inspected.

Mr Mwaibambe, who serves as Regional Police Commander noted that the Police Force has collected a total of Sh12.1 million as inspection fees.
