'Use Sh50m loan cash for teachers' housing'

The CWT secretary general said the government will lose a lot of money by loaning each village Sh50 million as proven through the disbursement of loans by former President Jakaya Kikwete (JK Billion).

Vwawa. Tanzania Teachers Union (TTU) Acting Secretary General Mr Ezekiah Oluochi has advised the government not to distribute  Sh50 million in loans to villages , suggesting the money be used to build houses for teachers instead.

 Mr Oluochi said lack of housing for teachers is one of the factors affecting the education sector in the country.

“If the Sh50 million were used to construct teachers’ houses,  each village would construct a total of 10 teachers’ houses in the next five years,” said Mr Oluochi.
