Tanga. The government is set to receive $ 30million as grant from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) for improvement of the livestock, especially the milk industry in the country, it has been revealed.

Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Dr Charles Tizeba said the funds would be used to enhance efforts in collection and preservation of milk.

He was addressing the Tanga regional leaders; the management of a milk plant, Tanga Fresh, a week after President John Magufuli launched its expansion.

Meanwhile, Dr Tizeba warned the leaders in Tanga over what he termed as a misleading report presented to President Magufuli, portraying him as if he did nothing to solve problems facing the milk processing company.

However, in his speech, Dr Tizeba admitted that without the intervention of the President, this wrangle between Tanga Fresh and Tanzania Revenue Authority would have continued for a long time without reaching a compromise.

“Let me assure you that most of the critical issues hitting this plant have now been settled and I hope that they are set for greater development projects.” said Dr Tizeba.
