Mahiza sheds tears at State House during her inauguration

Dar es Salaam. The Chief Scout Mwantumu Mahiza today Wednesday October 3 shed tears as former President Ali Hassan Mwinyi who is also a Trustee of Scout Tanzania, gave his remarks at State House Dar es Salaam.

This occurred shortly after Ms Mahiza was sworn in together with the permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Dr Faraji Mnyepe, by President John Magufuli.

In his speech, Mr Mwinyi said it was an honor for him to serve as a trustee for Scout Tanzania and that he would like to be remembered for the good things he has done.

“Today I’m nearly 94 years old and I cannot live longer in this world, so I don’t want to be ashamed,” he said, urging members of scout to work according to the rules and regulations.

“When President Magufuli asked me to serve for this post, I hesitated but he insisted on grounds that I might have something great to advise members of the scout,” explained Mr Mwinyi as he spent 15 minutes at the podium.

He also hailed Dr Magufuli for his effort in bringing development in the country.

“I admire you Mr President, keep it on,” he noted.

For his part, Dr Magufuli described Mr Mwinyi as the humble person and patriotic for the country.

“Despite the positions he has served, it is evident that the former president has continued to be patriotic and a good advisor, he respects everyone,” noted President Magufuli in his remarks.

Earlier, Ms Mahiza in her remarks, thanked Dr Magufuli for having trust in her.

“I understand that scout has a great contribution toward shaping the behavior of youth in the country,” she said.

With scout, according to her youth are trained to be patriotic to their nation and participate in the rescuing victims of various hazards that occur in the country.
