Operators of electric trains to be trained abroad

Dar es Salaam. Experts from South Korea and Turkey are expected to arrive in the country to train locals, who will operate the electric trains, when the construction of the standard railway gauge project is completed.

This was revealed by Tanzania Railways Corporation (TRC) Director General Mr Masanja Kadogosa on Wednesday September 26 during the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi Publicity and Ideology Secretary Mr Humphrey Polepole visit to the site.

 He further revealed that      some of the locals, who will be operating the trains, are already undergoing initial training in Ngerere, Kilosa and Dodoma.

"After completing the initial trainings they will be dispatched abroad for further training,” revealed Mr Kadogosa.

Speaking during the tour Mr Polepole asked urged the contractors to speed up the implementation of the project.

“This project is in CCM Manifesto so you should make sure that it is completed on time because the funds are readily available,” said Mr Polepole.
