Panic as tremor hits Bukoba

Bukoba. Hundreds of people spent the night outside their houses in Bukoba municipality after an earthquake hit the town last night.

The tremor brought back memories of another 5.7 in richter scale earthquake which hit Kagera Region last year killing over 10 people and injuring more than 200 others. The first earthquake left extensive damage to houses and other infrastructure.

Preliminary reports gathered by this paper show that the tremor was also felt in Missenyi, Muleba and Karagwe district.

The earthquake happened at around 1am on Sunday.
