This is yet another incident involving extrajudicial killings of civilians by the police force.

In Mbeya, the family of Frank Kapange (21) has boycotted the body of their relative as they accuse the police force of killing him without any ‘apparent reason’.

Frank’s body has been at Mbeya Zonal Referral Hospital for about 90 days now as relatives and the police force engage in legal exchanges in court.

On Friday, police were also accused of shooting to death yet another Mbeya resident and the issue remains unresolved.

And, revealing the post mortem outcomes on Sunday, September 02, 2018, the Tabora Regional Medical officer, Dr Gunini Kamba and the medical officer in-charge of Kitete Regional Referral Hospital, Dr Kelvin Nyakimori said Seleman died after being hit by a heavy object at the rear part of his head.

Attending Seleman’s burial, the Tabora Regional Commissioner, Mr Aggrey Mwanri called upon residents to remain calm as authorities work on the issue.

According to the Tabora Regional Police Commander (RPC), Mr Emmanuel Nley, nine police officers were being held in connection with the killing.

Seleman was killed, allegedly by some police officers, on August 9, 2018.

During that fateful day, eyewitnesses say, police arrived at the deceased’s butchery and questioned him regarding the reasons of opening his business before the authorized time.

“The officers then started beating him. They later left with him to an unknown place,” said Ms Flora Ambilikile.

The medical officer in-charge of Igunga District Hospital, Dr Merchades Magongo, said the trader was received at the hospital on August 29 at 9 pm.

“He was brought by the police, but he died at 11pm while receiving treatment, two hours after admission,” he said.
