Singida. Tanzania Food and Drugs Authority (TFDA) has destroyed counterfeit cosmetics and drugs worth Sh13.8 million in the region.
TFDA officials in Central Zone also seized expired food and beverages. According to TFDA Central Zone Inspector Mr Aberl Deule the counterfeit products were seized from various shops and pharmacies during a 10-day crackdown.
“We conducted the operation in collaboration with officials from Singida municipality. We want to wipe out fake products in the market,” Mr Deule told reporters shortly after the products were destroyed.
Mr Deule urged traders in the region to be sensitive of the health of their customers while procuring products. According to him, TFDA and other authorities in the region will not tolerate traders who sell fake goods.
