Pope appoints Fr Mhasi a new Tunduru Masasi bishop

  • The appointment was announced by Tanzania Episcopal Council, secretary Fr  Charles Kitima on Saturday December 12.
  • He replaces the late Castor Paul Msemwa, who served at the diocese from 2005 until 2017 when he died.
  • Prior to the appointment the Bishop-elect served as a parish priest for Kwiro in Mahenge district

Dar es Salaam.  Pope Francis has appointed Fr Filbert Mhasi as the new bishop for Tunduru-Masasi diocese.

A statement released to the media by the Tanzania Episcopal Council Secretary Fr Charles Kitima, indicates that before the appointment, the bishop-elect served as parish priest for Kwiro in Mahenge district.

He served as a parish priest for Kwiro in Mahenge. He was born on November 30 in 1970 and he was ordained on November 30, 2001.

He replaces the late Castor Paul Msemwa, who served the diocese from 2005 until 2017 when he died.
