Simba elect new leaders

- The elected leaders qualify for being members of the board of directors of Simba Sports Club Company Limited as they will control 51 shares of the club. They will join other eight members of the board to be appointed by businessman Mohammed Dewji, who owns 49 shares in the club after tabling Sh20 billion
Dar es Salaam. Finally, Simba Sports Club have elected their new leaders who will be holding their positions for four years.
Swedi Mkwabi, the sole candidate in the post of the Chairman, scooped 1,579 votes out of 1,628 cast by club members. His victory is of 96.9 percent.
The election also saw Asha Baraka being voted for as a member the club’s board of directors after collecting 1,180 votes to become the second winner to have won many votes.
Other members, who have been elected into the board of directors of the club are Hussein Kitta who collected 958 votes, Zawadi Kadunda (830), Seleman Harub (740) and Mwina Kaduguda who raked in 577 votes.
Twelve candidates, who failed to win any post in the election held at the Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre are Elia Alfred Martin who received 530 votes, Juma Pinto (440), Jasmin Soud (368), Patrick Rweyemam (349), Abubakar Zebo (301) and Iddi Kajuna who collected 270 votes.
Also on the list of the unsuccessful aspirants are Said Tully (247), Ally Suru (217), Chris Mwansasu (186), Hamis Mkoma (174), Mohamed Wandwi (124) and Abdallah Migomba, who won 97 votes.
The elected members of the board will join other two to be appointed by the chairman to make eight, who will lead the club. However, the club investor, Mohammed Dewji, will appoint other eight members to make 16 members of the board of directors of the club.
Dewji owns 49 percent of shares after tabling Sh20 billion. However, the operations of Simba Sports Club Company Limited will be under its Chief Executive Officer, Crecentius Magori.
