Mwadui FC defender Mgunga admits he will pay extra attention to Young Africans striker Ibrahim Ajib when the two sides face off at the National Stadium today

Mwanza/Dar es Salaam. Ahead of today’s clash, Mwadui FC defender Revocatus Mgunga has sounded the war drums by stating that he doesn’t fear Young Africans ace striker Ibrahim Ajib.

Mwadui face Yanga in the Mainland Premier League match at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam. The clash starts at 7pm.

Thus, Mgunga will be tasked with marking the free-scoring striker, according to the Shinyanga-based team’s coach, Ally Bizimungu.

NO FEAR

“He is a good player because he converts most of his chances. But we shouldn’t fear him because there is enough quality in our squad to take care of them and score goals,” Mgunga said yesterday.

He added: “He is so strong that you have to be careful. You have to adjust to the way he plays. If you are really convinced you can win the header, then you have to go for it.

“But sometimes he uses his body so well that when you jump, he can turn away and you’ve lost him.”

After a dismal start in the 2018/19 Mainland Premier League season, Mwadui will be hoping to redeem themselves when they face the Jangwani Street giants.

They sit tenth in the league table with 24 points from as many matches, 26 points adrift of league leaders Yanga.

And Yanga have psychological edge over Bizimungu’s team, having beaten them 2-1 in the first round at the Kambarage Stadium in Shinyanga last year.

Strikers Heritier Makambo and Mrisho Ngassa scored a goal each for Yanga to silence the Shinyanga outfit.

But Yanga, who need a win to redeem themselves after early elimination in the just concluded Mapinduzi Cup, will be without ace striker Heritier Makambo.

Meanwhile, Mbeya City squeezed a 1-0 win over Mtibwa Sugar at the Sokoine Memorial Stadium in Mbeya yesterday.
