Simba regain top spot after taming Mtibwa Sugar

Dar es Salaam. Defending champions Simba today laid a statement of intent as they regained top spot after they thrashed Mtibwa Sugar 3-0 in the Tanzania Premier League.

Goals from John Bocco in the 32nd, Clatous Chama in 47th and Emmanuel Okwi in the 56th were enough for the Msimbazi Street boys to walk away with all the three points.

Simba have toppled Young Africans from the top of the log with 85 points from 34 matches.

Young Africans remain in the second with 83 points from 36 matches while Azam FC is placed third with 69 points from 36 matches.

The fourth position is held by league debutants Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) which has so far  collected 49 points from 36 matches

Mtibwa Sugar’s goalkeeper, Shaaban Kado was at fault with two mistakes that allow Simba to score the two goals .

Kado’s failure to parry away the ball earned Simba the first goal scored by Bocco following a cross from Meddie Kagere.

Kado was again to blame for the second goal when he left his line too early after Clatous Chama was put through making it all but easy to score.

Simba started the encounter with the bang and created several scoring chances, but all went to waste.

Mtibwa Sugar left themselves to blame after they failed to exploit the numerous chances that they  created especially by Japhary Kibaya  and Salum Kihimbwa.
