Dar es Salaam. Stanbic Bank Tanzania has committed Sh100 million to this year’s Nyerere Cycling Tour, extending its support for the national cycling initiative for a third consecutive year,

The bank said the investment reflects its commitment to supporting initiatives that bring together communities, institutions and businesses while creating opportunities for Tanzanians.

“We are putting Sh100 million behind this year’s Tour because we believe purposeful investment should move with the country, reach communities and help create opportunities,” said Stanbic Bank Tanzania sustainability manager Annette Nkini.

She said the Nyerere Cycling Tour provides a platform to promote values of unity, progress and service while supporting communities across the country.

“We expect to touch the lives of 25,000 Tanzanians through this year’s Tour,” she said.

Formerly known as Twende Butiama, the event enters a new chapter in 2026 under the Nyerere Cycling Tour identity, honouring the legacy of the late Mwalimu Julius Nyerere.

The Tour places education, health, environmental conservation, youth empowerment and community development among its key areas of focus.

Stanbic said its involvement in the Tour is part of its broader commitment to supporting sustainable economic growth and initiatives that expand opportunities for communities.

The bank, which has operated in Tanzania for more than three decades, said its support for the Tour reflects its belief that its role in the country extends beyond providing financial services. “Our business grows when Tanzania grows. That is why we choose partnerships that allow us to contribute to something larger than the Bank itself,” said Nkini.  “We want our presence to be felt not only in transactions and financial solutions, but also in the progress of the communities we serve.” The 2026 Tour has attracted a wider group of partners, with Coca-Cola joining as the hydration partner and BYD as the fleet and mobility partner.

Stanbic said the growing number of partners demonstrates the potential of bringing together organisations with different strengths to support initiatives of national importance.

The bank said it will use its partnership with the Tour to deepen engagement with communities as the event heads towards its October program.

The partnership is being implemented under Stanbic’s brand promise, “Tanzania is our Home, We Drive Her Growth.”
