Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority’s Content Committee has strongly warned two radio stations for violating a government directive on press review.

The committee said on Monday, April 15 that at different times Magic FM and Radio Free Africa had been reading details of news published in papers instead of simply headlines.

Reading the decision, the committee chairperson, Ms Valerie Msoka, said in January 2019 Magic FM presenters, through the Morning Magic programme, read in detail news from various papers.

She also said that during the same month Radio Free Africa, through its Good Morning programme, did the same.

“We want both of them to make enough preparations before starting the programme, and not to repeat the same mistake,” she said

She said defence by the two radio stations did convince the committee members. “They both apologised and promised not to repeat such mistakes.”

According to her, they have an opportunity to file an appeal within 28 days if they are dissatisfied with the judgment.
