Outspoken Kigoma Urban MP Zitto Kabwe has vowed to spend the night inside the National Assembly allegedly to avoid arrest.

The opposition Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT-Wazalendo) leader said he had been tipped by a reliable source that the police were waiting for him outside Parliament. He gave no reason for the alleged arrest warrant.

Deputy Speaker Tulia Ackson turned down Mr Zitto’s request for Parliamentary immunity. She told him the Speaker can only intervene in a civil case.

"I'm not going to step outside today, they want to arrest me like they did to Godbless Lema (Arusha Urban MP-Chadema) and Tundu Lissu (Singida East MP-Chadema). That's against parliamentary powers, immunities and privileges," said Mr Kabwe.
