Total assures Tanzania over investment

The vice president for Total East and Central Africa, Mr Jean Christian Bergeron,

Dar es Salaam. Total said on Tuesday that it will foster its investment in Tanzania as it seeks to play an increasing role in the country’s development endeavors.

 Speaking during a CEOs Roundtable meeting in Dar es Salaam the vice president for Total East and Central Africa, Mr Jean Christian Bergeron, said besides investing in the Tanzania-Uganda oil pipeline, the company will continue to invest more in Tanzania.

 “Total intends to invest more and more in Tanzania. Besides the huge investment in Uganda-Tanzania crude oil pipeline and the recent launch of Total Excellium for Petrol and Diesel in Tanzania,” he said

 He said his company’s development model is based on making an active and positive contribution at the local level in line with the expectations its stakeholders through shared developments.

 “Our aim is to build constructive and sustainable developmental relationships with Tanzanians whose support is a key factor in the success of Total businesses,” he said.

 He said the energy industry is faced with a multitude of economic and social challenges and particularly high expectations from the society as a whole noting however that Total was determined to provide tangible solutions to the challenges of local people.

 According to Total Country Chair and Total Tanzania Managing Director, Mr Tarik Moufaddal, the company’s products – including its recently launched Total Excellium - were designed to ensure that Tanzania was dedicated to better energy.

 The former Chaiman of CEO’s RoundTable, Mr Ali Mfuruki commended Total Tanzania for providing superior services that do not harm the environment.
