DPP authorizes Kisutu Magistrate Court to hear economic sabotage case

Dar es Salaam. The Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has authorised the Kisutu Resident Magistrate Court to start hearing the Sh1.6 billion economic sabotage case facing the former director general of National Identification Authority (Nida) Dickson Mwaimu and others.

This was revealed by the senior state attorney Ladislaus Komanya when the case was mentioned before the senior resident magistrate Salum Ally today Monday, October 07.

Komanya said the case has come for mentioning, but only two out of six accused, including Astery Ndege and Xavery Kayombo were present.

“The first, second, third and sixth accused are not here, the investigation is complete and we were planning to present the DPP’s authorisation to enable the court to start hearing this case,” he said.

He said they were planning to amend the charge sheet and procedures are ongoing for preparing fresh charges.

However, the cause was adjourned for further procedures.

The magistrate accepted with no objections on the requests of both sides and the court was adjourned until October 8.

Other accused include director of ICT Avelin Mombuli, Benjamin Mwakatumbula who is now deceased and removed from charge sheet, director of Aste Insurance Brokers AsteryNdege, Sabrina Raymond, George Ntalima.
