Crop buyers urged to take advantage of Sagcot funds

Mbeya. The Sagcot Catalytic Trust Fund (CTF) has funds for solving various problems that hamper production and productivity for farmers, the institution said here yesterday.

It called upon stakeholders to come up with proposals that would fit into the fund’s requirements.

The Sagcot CTF executive secretary, Dr John Kyaruzi, said here yesterday that a successful applicant will receive amounts ranging between Sh500 million and Sh4 billion specifically for the purpose of solving various problems that hamper production and productivity by farmers.

To access the funds, he said agriculture stakeholders, especially crop buyers, would have to join farmers’ organisations to enhance their eligibility to secure the money.

He told Njombe regional commissioner Christopher ole Sendeka at the Sagcot pavilion here that the deadline for submitting application forms was August 25, this year. He appealed to RCs to ensure funding application forms reached the CTF in time for processing to guarantee early delivery of money to successful applicants.

He said the government received money from the World Bank which was being held by the Sagcot CTF with specific directives that it must be utilised to solve varied problems that hamper production and productivity right at the farmers’ level.
