DIT invents tea vending machine

Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) has improved its Tea Vending Machine whereby now the customers can get tea, coffee and different snacks according to demand.

The technology was designed last year with an option of give tea and coffee only, but the innovator has decided to improve due to market demand so that give broader services to the customers.

A lecturer at DIT, Dr Daudi Simbeye told The Citizen yesterday at DIT pavilion in ongoing 42nd Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF) that the technology is self-services whereby the customer is required to insert a coin of Sh200 and select sugar spoons would like to be served and the kind of drink wants.

“After we improved this technology customers will now require to click the button for snacks whereby the machine will give out the price according to type of snacks that customer has selected,” he said

Explained on how the machines operating it can be stalled at station where there is crowd of people like waiting passenger’s room, schools, and hospitals to mention few.

He said a research conducted by DIT in 2016 has discovered that tea and coffee vendors missed customers because sometimes their products ends or sold at a specific time usually morning.

Also, the research discovered that some people need to drink tea and coffee all the time but there is no supply.

Dr Simbeye said the technology is self-services whereby the customer is required to insert a coin of Sh200 and select sugar spoons would like to be served and the kind of drink wants tea of coffee but for snacks the price will be different according to type.
