Dar es Salaam. A new supermarket will be opened in Mwanza on Sunday.

The supermarket is located in the nearly $40 million (about Sh88 billion on the prevailing exchange rate) ultra-modern Rock City Mall.

Industry, Trade and Investment minister Charles Mwijage will on April 30 officiate at a ceremony to open a TSN supermarket, the company said in a statement yesterday.

“All preparations towards the official opening of the TSN’s Mwanza Supermarket are going on well,” the the statement said.

The coming of TSN Supermarket to Mwanza gives a ready market for items produced by farmers and factory owners in the Lake Zone.

Some 70 people are also expected to be employed in the supermarket.

“We will work hand in hand with all entrepreneurs in the Lake Zone and we assure them that their products now have a reliable market,” the statement reads.

The Rock City Mall, in which TSN Supermarket is located, covers over 32,000 square metres off Kirumba Street.

It acts as the gateway to the Great Lakes region. The complex has a parking lot for 700 vehicles and 100 motorcycles. It was built in partnership with the Local Authority Pensions Fund as the financier and the Mwanza City Council as the landowner.
