According to the World Bank (WB), Kenya is the leading and fastest growing internet user country in East Africa. It is followed by Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Burundi, in that order.

The WB statistics show that out of 100 people in Kenya, 43 use the internet. The composition of users in other countries stands in the order of Uganda (18 per cent), Rwanda (11 per cent), Tanzania (5 per cent) and Burundi (1 per cent).

Internet usage in the region is mostly based on: computers, mobile phones, personal digital assistants, games machines, and digital TV.
