Miss Rwanda Jolly Mutesia visit Tanzania for two days

Dar es Salaam. The Vice President of the Miss East Africa pageant, who is also Miss Rwanda in 2016, Jolly Mutesia arrived in Dar es Salaam, yesterday June 9, 2021 from Kigali.

Speaking to journalists at the Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) in Dar es Salaam, Miss East Africa pageant organizer John Mohammed said Ms Mutesi would be in the country for two days doing different social activities.

 “The Miss East Africa pageant was established by Tanzanian Rena Callist, and was held for the first time in 1996 with great success, also held in Burundi under the supervision of former Burundian President, the late Piere Nkurunzinza.  "

  “The competition was last time held at Mlimani City Hall in Dar es Salaam, and was viewed by millions of people through live broadcasts where it promoted Tanzanian tourism,” he said.

On her side , Jolly Mutesi, said the competition helps to strengthen the East African beauty pageant and promote their countries.

“The current goal is to ensure that these competitions are held annually and contribute to maintaining the unity and solidarity of East Africa," he said.

“Promoting tourism and investment opportunities especially in the host country as well as providing education and support in the various challenges facing women and children in the East African region."  Said Jolly.

The Miss East pageant includes Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda Rwanda, Burundi, Malawi, Seychelles, Madagascar, Mauritius and Comoro Islands.
