Bakhressa to start telecom company

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania telecommunication industry will soon have a new operator after Bakhresa Group of Companies (BGC) announced to venture into the business.
The company, which will be known as Azam Telecom (T) Limited, is a part of the BGC that is owned by Said Salim Bakhresa. It is expected to provide affordable services.
The BGC corporate affairs director, Mr Hussein Sufian Ally, said: “We thank TCRA for accommodating us. We are very excited that we are venturing into one of the most competitive sectors in the country.”
He said Azam Telecommunications will expand on the diversity of the Bakhresa group sharing the same vision to provide high quality services at affordable rates for all.
He noted that plans are underway to launch the Azam mobile network throughout the country within the few months.
