Opposition supporter shot on the knee in Musoma

A resident here, Sospeter Moses, 21, was shot and injured on his knee by the owner of a car shop after he opened fire at a group of opposition supporters who hurled stones at his showroom as they headed to a rally addressed by Chadema presidential candidate Edward Lowassa.

Musoma. A resident here, Sospeter Moses, 21, was shot and injured on his knee by the owner of a car shop after he opened fire at a group of opposition supporters who hurled stones at his showroom as they headed to a rally addressed by Chadema presidential candidate Edward Lowassa.

The incident occurred on Sunday when a group of opposition supporter riding on motorcycles allegedly started stoning the car shop whose owner is said to be a member of the ruling CCM.

Police have confirmed that incident and they were still investigating the incident.

The acting Mara regional police commander Ernest Kimola said that police were holding Mr Mapinduzi Muhere 37, over the alleged shooting.

Eyewitness, Mr Ally Rajabu, told The Citizen the incident took place around 5 Pm at Nyerere road in the municipality, a few minutes after Mr Lowassa arrived at the Mukendo Primary School grounds to address the public.
