Kaliua District Council chairman Haruna Kasele named the suspended officials as treasurer Said Mwarami, head of the Procurement Unit, Mr Steward Eriack and two accountants, Mr Joseph Msangama and Costa Mzanye.
“The officials are suspended after an emergency session of the Finance Committee found that they conspired to give false information about the council’s income and expenditure,” Mr Kasele said.
He said Mr Mwarami was suspended because he had “condoned unethical behaviour” among his staff. The treasurer is also accused of failing to collect government revenue.
