Airtel shines in latest TCRA report

Dar es Salaam. Airtel Tanzania has emerged as the most preferred service provider in the country, the latest report from the Tanzania Regulatory Communication Authority (TCRA) shows.

The TCRA report released this week, shows that Airtel recorded a significant traffic share of 38 percent and 30 percent on both on-net and off-net calls respectively, at the end of the first quarter ending March 2024.

The report also revealed that more voice minutes were spent on on-net calls which accounted for 53 percent compared to off-net calls 47 percent, indicating customers' preference for calling within the same network, building a strong, connected community that enjoys an array of quality products and services.

Commenting on the report, Airtel Tanzania Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr Dinesh Balsingh, said their vast portfolio of affordable services makes them the most reliable operator in the country.

“Our competitive services are undisputed being the most used network across the country,” he said.

Further analysis of the report shows that around a 35 billion minutes were spent in the reliability available and ease of use quarter ending March 2024, compared to a 39 billion minutes in the quarter ending December 2023.

Recording a four billion growth quarter on quarter, however, on-net traffic remained significantly higher than off-net traffic throughout the quarter.

The report also highlights significant improvement in Airtel’s quality of service performance, holding the first position at 97.2 percent, followed by Halotel at 94.9 percent and Tigo at 94.8 percent.
