CCM grabs 3 wards in Sunday by-elections

Mbeya/Kilimanjaro. With counting still on in most wards and in two constituencies that took part in the Sunday September 16 by–elections, CCM looks set for an astounding victory after it emerged victorious in Maanga Ward in Mbeya Region and in Machame Uroki and KIA wards in Kilimanjaro Region.
The National Electoral Commission (Nec) returning officer in Mbeya Urban District Mr James Kasusura declared the CCM candidate Mr Newton Mwatujobe the councilor-elect, defeating Chadema's Mr Steven Mwashilindi.
“Mwatujobe garnered 1,897 votes against 1,703 votes garnered by the Chadema candidate, Mwashilindi,” he said.
According to him, at least 3,600 residents turned out for voting out of the 6,292 registered voters.
Mr Mwatujobe was awarded a victory certificate by Nec.
The assistant election supervisor in Machame Uroki Ward, Msafiri Msuya, declared the CCM candidate, Mr Robson Kimarowa winner against his Chadema counterpart, Mr Elibashiri Kombe.
According to Mr Msuya, Mr Kimarowa garnered 2,174 votes against 704 gathered by Mr Kombe.
There are 4,512 registered voters in Machame Uroki. Out of the number 2,878 turned out to vote.
18 votes were rejected.
Assistant election supervisor in the KIA Ward, Mr Saimon Egid, declared Mr Yohana Laizer (CCM) the winner against Chadema's Hassan Ibua.
According to him, Mr Egid garnered 1,367 votes against 230 that went to the Chadema candidate, Mr Ibua.
