David Chait appointed new general manager of Coca-Cola Kwanza

David Chait

What you need to know:

  •  He previously served as Finance Director for Coca-Cola Kwanza for nearly five years before assuming regional responsibilities as Group Revenue Growth Manager at Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in 2017.

Dar es Salaam. Coca-Cola Kwanza, a soft drinks bottler, has appointed seasoned beverages executive David Chait as its new General Manager, marking a homecoming for a familiar face in the country's beverage industry.

The announcement, made on May 28, 2025, follows Chait’s highly successful tenure as General Manager of Coca-Cola Beverages Botswana, where he steered the company through a phase of dynamic growth and operational transformation.

Chait is no stranger to Tanzania. He previously served as Finance Director for Coca-Cola Kwanza for nearly five years before assuming regional responsibilities as Group Revenue Growth Manager at Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) in 2017. His latest appointment reflects Coca-Cola’s strategy of nurturing internal talent and promoting leadership from within.

During his leadership in Botswana, Chait helped establish the country’s first Coca-Cola Country Management Team, guiding it to deliver double-digit volume and revenue growth over the past five years.

Among his notable achievements was the commissioning of a $24 million wastewater treatment plant in 2023, and the addition of a new production line that more than doubled the plant’s capacity to produce 2-litre PET bottles—significantly improving supply to meet growing consumer demand.

His team’s performance was further recognised through industry accolades, including the Customer Service Excellence Award (2023) and the Quality and Safety Award (2024).

Welcoming Chait back to Tanzania, CCBA Chief Operating Officer Gavin Hudson praised his leadership and track record, calling the appointment “a testament to CCBA’s commitment to developing high-performing talent from within.”

“At CCBA, we invest in our people to foster an inclusive and thriving workplace that accelerates growth,” Hudson said. “David embodies our culture of growth and learning. His authenticity, empathy, and ability to collaborate have proven essential in driving business success and building resilient teams.”

As he takes over the helm at Coca-Cola Kwanza, Chait is expected to lead the company through its next phase of innovation, sustainability, and market expansion—capitalising on his deep understanding of the Tanzanian market and regional business dynamics.

Coca-Cola Kwanza is a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, the continent’s largest Coca-Cola bottler, operating in more than 13 countries and serving millions of customers across Africa.
