Dodoma. CCM National Vice Chairman Abdulrahman Kinana has said that the First President of Tanzania Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and the former President of Cuba Fidel Castro will live to be remembered for fighting against injustice, defending human rights, opposing violence and victimization of small nations.

The statement comes six years after the death of former Cuban President Fidel Casto and the 100th anniversary of the birth of Mwalimu Nyerere.

Speaking yesterday about the 60th anniversary since the bilateral relations started between Tanzania and Cuba, Mr Kinana said the relations have made a great contribution in terms of morally, materially, and life in the liberation of the African continent.

He said over the past six decades Tanzania has been cooperating with Cuba in various sectors including education, health and agriculture.

“The cooperation between the two countries has been cemented by their consistent positions on basic issues, especially in the liberation of the African continent in fighting for human rights and maintaining non-aligned politics,” he said.

Mr Kinana said the close relationship between Mwalimu Julius Nyerere and Fidel Casto helped speed up the liberation of the African continent.

He said for many years Cuba has been supporting Tanzania in the sectors of education, health and agriculture.
