Mwananchi Communications Limited together with health stakeholders as well as experts on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), will use this forum to provide a platform for detailed discussions on challenges of the diseases and the impacts.


Mr Felix Mlaki is the executive director of the Economic and Business Foundation, Tanzania Limited, dealing in Consultancy, Human Capacity Development and Advocacy. He has previously worked with Kenya Commercial Bank Tanzania as the director of Retail Banking and with the Standard Chartered Bank Tanzania as the general manager responsible for Shared Distributions.

Currently, Mr Mlaki is the executive director of Geita Gold Mine Limited and also doubles as a board member at Maendeleo Bank.

A known facilitator, Mr Mlaki has sound experience of moderating forums on economics and leadership across the world. His main areas of expertise include strategic transaction management, government relations and business advisory (finance and investment).

He holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Edinburg University School in Scotland.

A father of two, Mr Mlaki is a football enthusiast, loves reading books and enjoys exploring places.

He believes that NCDs could affect the country’s workforce and Tanzania’s journey to middle-income economy.

Dr Blandina Kilama is a senior researcher at REPOA - Policy Research for Development - an independent research institution, which creates and utilises knowledge to facilitate socio-economic development. With over 15 years of experience in research, training, management, policy and data analysis, Dr Kilama led a team that developed the Second Five-Year Development Plan (FYDPII) implemented between 2016/17 and 2020/2021.The plan considers new ways of industrialising the country and make economic transformation a reality.

Dr Kilama is a distinguished contributor in local and international dialogues, forums and publications. She uses such platforms to present discourses on economic transformation, financial inclusion, value chain in agriculture, nutrition and poverty. She’s also the first chief executive officer (CEO) of the Economic Society of Tanzania.She holds a PHD from Leiden University and a Masters Degree (MPAID) from Harvard Kennedy School. Dr Kilama takes time out for swimming, reading books, and is enthusiastic about travelling. She views the Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs) as among the country’s barriers to realisation of its industrialisation drive.
