Mwakinyo now targets the world’s best after win in Kenya

Tanzanian boxer Hassan Mwakinyo

Dar es Salaam.  Tanzanian boxer Hassan Mwakinyo has set his target towards becoming one of the best in the world.

Mwakinyo said this during a media tour that brought him to Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) publishers of The Citizen, Mwananchi and Mwanaspoti newspapers as well as online platform MCL Digital.

“My dream is be among the best. I know there are some of the professional boxing stakeholders think it is such a difficult feat to achieve due to stereotypes that have always been part of the African boxing story,” said Mwakinyo.

According to him, he has had to endure many hurdles to get to where he is today and he believes he could be the next great thing in boxing to match pedigrees set by boxers such as Floyd Mayweather and Pacquiao

“Professional boxing is my career that pays the bills and puts food on the table.  I take it seriously and in the near future, I am sure I shall be somewhere at the top. I also target to fight Pacquiao and become the first Tanzania to do that,” he said.

He added: I am very excited after being invited to State House by President, John Magufuli. He has inspired me to do more and more in the game. I thank SportPesa for the all the support  that they have given me,” he said.
