NEMC promotes environmental awareness during Public Service Week in Dodoma

Dodoma. The National Environment Management Council (NEMC) is using this year’s Public Service Week to educate the public on environmental protection and showcase its services, as part of a government-wide exhibition taking place at Chinangali Park from June 16 to 23.
NEMC Acting Central Zone Manager, Novatus Mushi, said the council is displaying research findings, raising awareness on environmental laws, and informing citizens about the services it offers — including environmental assessments and compliance monitoring.
“Our aim is to help Tanzanians understand their environmental rights and responsibilities, and how to access the services we provide,” he said.
The council has set up a pavilion where visitors can learn about its role in environmental protection and ask questions about processes such as environmental impact assessments (EIAs), permits, and complaints handling.

NEMC’s Human Resources and Administration Manager, Nicodemus Tindwa, said the council is also gathering public feedback, including complaints and suggestions, to improve service delivery.
He noted that some of NEMC’s services are now available online, including registration for environmental assessments — part of a broader government effort to improve transparency and ease of doing business for investors.
The Public Service Week exhibition has drawn participation from ministries, government agencies, and local authorities, offering on-the-spot services and information to the public.
