Dodoma. CCM presidential candidate Samia Suluhu Hassan has pledged to end water scarcity in Kondoa within the next five years, as she intensified her re-election campaign in Dodoma Region on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Addressing thousands of supporters, President Hassan said her administration had made “historic strides” in expanding access to clean water in Kondoa and vowed to achieve 100 percent coverage in her next term.

“Our focus in the next five years is clear—water shortage here will end completely,” she said.

Her remarks were reinforced by CCM’s parliamentary candidate for Kondoa Rural, Dr Ashatu Kijaji, who recalled that just four years ago the district had only two boreholes.

“Now we have 154 water sources. In four years, clean water access has risen from 0.2 percent to 89 percent. This is not theory; it is real transformation in people’s lives,” she said.

Dr Kijaji further noted that Kondoa, which previously lacked health centres, now has six, with a seventh under construction.

Outlining her broader campaign vision, President Hassan promised to build four more health centres and five dispensaries, improve rural road networks to ensure year-round accessibility, and introduce large-scale farming and irrigation schemes.

She also pledged to expand economic opportunities through designated investment zones and the construction of a modern central market.

Meanwhile, CCM’s Kondoa Urban parliamentary candidate, Ms Mariam Ditopile, urged residents to turn out in large numbers, cautioning against calls to boycott the polls.

“Your vote is your voice. Do not let anyone convince you to stay away. This is our chance to secure development for Kondoa,” she said.

CCM stalwart Dr Bashiru Ally, who served as the party’s Secretary-General from 2018 to 2021, also commended President Hassan for strengthening unity within CCM and across the nation.
